Troy Smith

President
 

Mr. Smith has been the President of IWM Consulting Group since the inception of January 2006. Previous experience includes Business Development Manager for a national environmental consulting firm and State Landfill Sales Manager for a national waste disposal company. He has a broad experience in remediation and demolition starting with scope development and estimating. Extensive project management helps ensure efficient team oversight and coordination, working with multiple contractors ensuring that the project stays on track and budget. Utilize company philosophy to incorporate green alternatives when economically effective.

Greg Scarpone

Vice President
 

Mr. Scarpone is the Vice President/co-owner of IWM Consulting Group, LLC with offices located in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Scarpone has over twenty five years of professional experience in environmental consulting. His experience includes the regional management of multiple environmental offices, supervision of numerous subsurface investigations, remediation system design, remediation system installation and operations and maintenance, portfolio management for major oil companies, environmental construction management, underground storage tank compliance for c-store owners and Brownfield/Energy grant writing/investigations. Mr. Scarpone has been involved in multiple start-ups of environmental consulting companies including staff recruiting & development, contract procurement, company acquisitions and capital investments.

Brad Gentry

Vice President

Mr. Gentry holds a Bachelor of Arts Geology degree from Hanover College.   Mr. Gentry is an LPG, has approximately 23 years of diverse technical experience in environmental consulting.  Mr. Gentry has a specialized expertise in Phase I and Phase II ESAs, petroleum and hazardous substance remediation projects, portfolio management, and identification, assessment, and remediation of Brownfield sites.  Mr. Gentry's technical experience includes supervising and conducting hundreds of subsurface investigations, supervising, installing, and performing operation and maintenance activities on various types of remedial systems (combination air sparge & soil vapor extraction, dual phase extraction, oxygen injection/infusion, and groundwater pump and treat), conducting soil gas and vapor intrusion studies, acquisition/divestment assessments, technical report preparation and QA/QC review of technical reports prior to final submittal to the client or regulatory agency.  Mr. Gentry has experience managing projects participating in the LUST, VRP, State Cleanup, and Brownfield Programs within IDEM.  Mr. Gentry is a licensed professional geologist in Indiana, Kentucky and Pennsylvania and is registered as a Certified UST Professional in the State of Michigan. 

Mr. Gentry was the POC and Senior Project Manager for two (2) U.S. EPA funded Hazardous Substance Cleanup Projects, five (5) Community Wide EPA Assessment Grants, two (2) OCRA Funded Clearance Projects, nine (9) CERCLA 128(a) projects and the Project Manager for one (1) City funded Community-Wide Site Assessment project.

Bill Ackland

Senior Project Manager

Mr. Ackland holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Oregon State University and a Master of Science degree in Hydrogeology from Portland State University.  Mr. Ackland is a Licensed Professional Geologist in California, Kentucky and Indiana and has over 15 years of environmental consulting experience in California, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.

Mr. Ackland is the Project Manager and lead point of contact for all Kentucky and Ohio projects managed through IWM Consulting’s Indianapolis office.  Mr. Ackland has supervised well over 100 subsurface investigations and is experienced in planning, permitting and implementing all phases of site investigation activities - including State funded/directed assessments, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; plume delineation; fate and transport modeling; and remedial system design, installation and operations/maintenance.

Mr. Ackland has utilized multiple investigative and remedial strategies (including oxidant and carbon injections, soil vapor extraction/air sparging, dual phase extraction, product skimming, groundwater pump and treat, surgical excavation, etc.).  Mr. Ackland has been responsible for regulatory reporting to multiple States/agencies, and has also provided slug/pump test analysis, GPS site surveying, and CADD services for many projects.

Chris Newell

Project Manager

Mr. Newell is a Project Manager for IWM Consulting Group, LLC located in Indianapolis, Indiana with over ten years of professional experience in the environmental consulting field.  Mr. Newell is a Licensed Professional Geologist (LPG #2397) in the State of Indiana.  His responsibilities include project management and proposal writing, conducting and supervising remediation and investigation activities, technical report writing and review, data evaluation, the supervision, training, coordination, and scheduling of field activities and personnel, field equipment and supplies acquisition, and AutoCAD operations and training. 

His experience includes remediation and investigation work scope development, various Phase I and Phase II site assessments, soil classification and logging, collection of soil and groundwater samples during near-surface and subsurface investigations, collection of UST compliance and excavation confirmation samples, collection of soil gas, sub-slab vapor, and indoor air samples during vapor intrusion investigations, oversight of remediation activities including UST removal, soil excavation, system installations, groundwater and free product removal, and injections, oversight of the installation of soil borings, extraction wells, landfill and soil gas probes, and monitoring wells, various technical report writing and data evaluation, health and safety plan preparation, coordination, and implementation, field mapping and surveying, and utilizing AutoCAD software to create site maps from aerial images and/or onsite information and measurements.  Other experience includes direct push and auger drilling assistance and split spoon sampling.

Mandy Haynes

Project Manager

Mandy Haynes received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from IUPUI in May 1999.  Ms. Haynes is a Project Manager with IWM Consulting and has been with us since February 2017.  She has 18 years of environmental consulting experience and received her Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) Certification in August 2006 (CHMM # 13989).  Ms. Haynes has worked on various types of projects including petroleum and chlorinated sites in the UST/LUST/ELTF Programs and Brownfields Program.   She also has experience with NEPA projects where she assisted with the site assessment, research, and report preparation for sites in Indiana and Massachusetts.

Mark Anderson

Senior Project Manager

Mr. Anderson is a Sr. Project Manager for IWM Consulting Group, LLC located in Fort Wayne, Indiana with 28 years of professional experience in the environmental consulting field.  Mr. Anderson joined IWM Consulting in March 2007.  Mr. Anderson is a Licensed Professional Geologist (LPG No. 1403) in the State of Indiana.  He is also certified in Indiana (UST Certification No. UC20108659) for UST Closure/Decommissioning by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.    His responsibilities include project management, proposal writing, conducting and supervising remediation and investigation activities, technical report writing and review, data evaluation, the supervision, training, coordination, and scheduling of field activities and personnel.

Neil Johnson

Senior GEOLOGIST 

Mr. Johnson is a Senior Geologist for IWM Consulting Group, LLC located in Fort Wayne, Indiana with over 36 years of geologic work experience and over 26 years of professional experience in the environmental consulting field.  Mr. Johnson attained a Master’s Degree in Geology, is a licensed Professional Geologist and Water Well Driller in the State of Indiana, and holds other professional certifications.

Mr. Johnson has extensive geologic experience interpreting soil samples, bedrock cores and cuttings obtained from hollow-stem augers, direct-push methods, sonic, and rotary drilling and coring methods.  He has been involved in numerous Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, field investigations for site characterizations, contamination delineations, soil and groundwater sampling, UST closures, geophysical investigations, downhole camera operations, well installations, test pit excavations, in-situ chemical injections, aquifer testing, asbestos inspections, water shed monitoring, air sampling, compliance assistance, and data analysis.

Mr. Johnson serves as IWM Consulting’s designated Quality Assurance Manager.  Duties include performing Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) field audits, reviewing data, and generating Data Assessment Reports (DARs) for EPA and Indiana Brownfield projects.  He has generated numerous technical documents, health and safety plans, work plans, storm water pollution prevention plans, investigative SOPs, and coordinates projects and interfaces with clients and governmental agencies.

Hugh Smith

Senior Geologist

Mr. Smith is a Senior Geologist for IWM Consulting Group, LLC located in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Mr. Smith has approximately 30 years of professional experience in the environmental consulting field.  Mr. Smith received a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology with a minor in Mathematics from Indiana University and is licensed with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management as an Asbestos Building Inspector.  His responsibilities include preparation of project work scopes and cost proposals, conducting and managing environmental investigation activities, data evaluation, and preparation of investigation reports.

Mr. Smith has extensive experience in conducting Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, interpreting soil samples obtained from hollow-stem augers and direct-push methods, collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analyses, supervision of soil and groundwater remedial activities, field investigations for site characterizations, soil and groundwater contamination delineations, UST closures, geophysical investigations, well installations, test pit excavations, and asbestos inspections.  He has generated numerous technical documents, health and safety plans, and project work plans, and regularly interfaces with clients and governmental agencies in coordinating project activities.

Anne Tkacz

Project Engineer 

Ms. Tkacz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Ms. Tkacz is a Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana and is employed by IWM Consulting Group.  She has over 17 years of environmental engineering consulting experience.  Her experience includes air permit applications, air permit compliance, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, as well as other manufacturing regulatory compliance issues such as Tier 2 and SARA 313, wastewater, and safety.
